What it is

Intention jars (often called spell jars) are small, sealed bottles filled with symbolic ingredients. Each layer stands for part of a wish or goal, and the finished jar sits on a shelf or altar as a daily visual reminder. Think of it as a three-dimensional vision board.

  3. Add a base layer of salt or rice, then add the paper scroll.
  4. Layer the herbs and flowers using a paper funnel, gently tamping with a chopstick. Add the crystal near the top.
  5. Push the cork in firmly. Tie twine around the neck, or seal it with wax (see safety notes).
  6. Place the jar where you'll see it. Many people make jars at the new moon and revisit the intention at the full moon.
